Benedict, Mr. & Mrs. Rollie (GOLD 17 JAN 1913)

The Golden Wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Benedict, of the town of York, was celebrated January 13.

Mr. and Mrs. Benedict attended church that morning.  They were then honored by a dinner which was served in the York Town Hall at noon to about 30 relatives.  A reception followed that afternoon, which was attended by some 160 relatives, friends and neighbors of the honored couple.  The reception was put on by the Sew & So Homemakers club.

Mrs. Benedict wore a gold-flecked red rose corsage and Mr. Benedict had a carnation sprayed with gold, for his boutonniere.

The couple was married January 17, 1913 by the Methodist minister, Rev. J.J. Alderson of Loyal.

Mr. Benedict was born July 28, 1891 and Mrs. Benedict January 17, 1895.  They were both born in the town of York.  They attended schools in the town of York.  Mr. Benedict attended the Lincoln school and Mrs. Benedict attended Pleasant View and Lincoln schools.

After their marriage, they operated a farm in the town of York and in 1920 they sold their farm and moved to Loyal, where Mr. Benedict was a storekeeper.  In 1924, they moved to Mosinee where Mr. Benedict worked in a paper mill for seven years.

In 1931 they returned to this area and bought a farm where they now reside.  Mr. Benedict served as Clark County Bee inspector for several years and each year he has several colonies of bees.

He also served as assessor for eleven years, school clerk for eight years and at present is serving as State Bee Inspector.

They are both active members of the Clark county Grange 740, the York Methodist Church and Lincoln School P.T.A.  Mr. Benedict belongs to the Odd Fellows Lodge 108, Neillsville.  Mrs. Benedict belongs to the Diamond Rebekah Lodge #64, Neillsville, and the Women’s Society of Christian Service of the York Center Methodist Church and the Sew and So Homemakers club.

Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Benedict are the parents of one son, Edwin Orville, who died when he was three months old.

They both enjoy good health and Mr. Benedict’s hobby is bee keeping, and his wife’s hobby is fancywork.

Friends and relatives who attended from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Pinkerton and family and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Winker of Wisconsin Rapids; Mrs. Marion Pinkerton, Neil Pinkerton and Diane Strebe of Fond du Lac; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Benedict and family of Lomira; Mr. and Mrs. Allan Diedrich, Sparta; and Mr. and Mrs. Chester Freedlund of Pittsville.

Many others attended from Loyal, Neillsville, Granton, Chili and vicinity.
