Happe, Edwin (1886 – 21 JAN 1914)

Edwin A. Happe, one of the leading young farmers of the town of Fremont, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield last week Thursday, January 21, 1914, as the result of pneumonia following an operation the Saturday previous for appendicitis.

Edwin was born near Knowles, in Dodge County, twenty eight years ago, a son of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Happe.  Fourteen years ago he with his parents came to reside in the town of Fremont.  Here he completed the common school course and assisted his father on the farm.

His good character, excellent habits and gentlemanly ways won for him the respect and admiration of every one.  Though frail in body, he was intelligent, high minded and moral.  He was married to Lydia H. Lindow in 1910 since which time he has operated a farm of his own.  In his immediate family the wife and one child, a baby girl but 9 months old are left to mourn his untimely death.  Besides them he leaves his father and step-mother, three brothers, Carl F., Arthur E., and Aug. E., one sister, Mrs. Chas. Lindow and one half sister, Ermine Happe.  To all of whom his death comes as a hard blow.  The funeral was held from the home Sunday afternoon.  Rev. Mankopsky of Berlin delivering the sermon.  Interment was made in the Evangelical cemetery.  The full measure of the community’s heartfelt sympathy is tendered the bereaved ones through this their darkest hour
