Barton, Azilda (9 FEB 1854 - 24 APR 1915)

Mrs. Joseph Barton was born Azilda Le Brun on Feb. 9, 1854, at St. Augustine Provence of Quebec and died at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield on April 24, 1915. She was united in marriage to Joseph Barton in 1873 at Hull City, Quebec, and they came to Wisconsin 38 years ago. They lived in Neillsville for two years and then moved onto a farm in the town of Grant where they lived for 16 years. They then moved to Neillsville to spend their declining years. Six children were born to them, five of whom, with their father, survive their mother. The children are Albert, Arthur, Louis, Mrs. Richard Welch and Mrs. Wm. Schiller. There are also twelve surviving grandchildren and four sisters and one brother, who are Mrs. Magloire Carrier and Mrs. Frank Mallette of Ottawa, Canada, Mrs. Julius Thibert of Portland and Mrs. J.M. Rivard of Eau Claire and Averest Le Brun.

Mrs. Barton was a woman of especially high ideals and noble attainments and she lived a life which was replete with kindly and charitable acts. She was a thoroughly good woman, a splendid wife and mother and her life is one that will serve as an incentive to better living to all who knew her. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and the funeral services were held there Tuesday morning, interment being made in the Catholic cemetery.
