Walter, Joseph George (19 FEB 1891 – 22 APR 1963)
Joseph George Walter, 72, Loyal, died at 10:30 Monday evening in St. Joseph’s
Hospital, Marshfield, where he had been admitted earlier that same evening
following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony’s Catholic
Church with Rev. Norbert E. King officiating. Burial will be in the parish
cemetery.
Friends may call at the Myre Funeral Home. A general rosary service is being
held there Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be
said at 8:30.
Mr. Walter was born February 19, 1891 in the town of York and received his
education in the town of York school and St. Anthony’s Catholic School. His
first marriage was to Margaret Hauser on May 20, 1919 at Neillsville. She died
in August of 1960. His second marriage was to Mrs. Tillie Schwallenbach on
August 26, 1961 also in Neillsville.
Mr. Walter farmed in the Hinetown area until 1952 when he retired and moved to
the city of Loyal. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Holy
Name Society and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, seven daughters, Mrs. Mike (Mary) Weyer, Mrs. Robert
(Dorothy) Weyer, Loyal; Mrs. Norbert(Margaret) Krebs, Mrs. Ray(Clara) Scharpf,
Hartford; Mrs. Lyle(Eleanor) Berge, Milwaukee; Mrs. Jack (Anna) Wiczynski,
Lannon; Mrs. Gerald (Theresa) Lentz, Wauwatosa; two sons, John of Slinger and
Franklin of Loyal; one stepson John Schwallenbach, Loyal; 36 grandchildren; one
sister, Miss Anne Walter, Loyal; three brothers, Anthony Walter, George Walter,
Loyal; Louis Walter, Granton.
One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
