Gies, Frank X. (21 November 1898 - 19 November 1967)
Funeral services were held Wednesday for Frank X. Gies, 68, of Rt. 1
Neillsville, who died Sunday in Neillsville. Services were held from St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Neillsville with the Rev. George M. Nelson officiating.
Burial was made in the parish cemetery.
Mr. Gies was born November 21, 1898, in Richland County. He attended schools in
that county and the agricultural short course in Madison. He later made cheese
in Richland County. On April 24, 1928, he was married to the former Rose Zitka
in Muscoda. They farmed near Elkhorn, coming to Clark County in 1951.
A general rosary service was said Tuesday evening at the (partial lines missing
here) church.
Mr. Gies is survived by his wife; a daughter, Air Force Lt. Elizabeth Gies of
Travers AFB, Cal.; a son James Gies of Medford. Other survivors are: two
sisters, Mrs. Edward (Eleanore) Laufenburg of Madison and Mrs. Elmer (Loretta)
Cody of Shullsburg; two brothers, Leo of Avoca and John of Palmyra and eight
grandchildren.
