Hass, Brigida
Geitner (18 NOV 1860 - 15 FEB 1919)
Mrs. Casper Haas died at her home in the town of Worden on Saturday, February
15, 1919, of pneumonia, after an illness of about ten days. Her maiden name was
Brigita Geitner and she was born at Schnaitach, Bavaria, Germany on November 18,
1860. She came to Hayton, Calumet County, Wis., May 13, 1882 and on October 29,
1882, she was united in marriage to Casper Haas, who died May 26, 1894, after
their removal to Thorp in 1887. Her early struggles and indomitable spirit, upon
her death of her husband, and with but a small clearing on the farm (her home
until her death) will be remembered by all the settlers in her neighborhood.
Well may her children cherish her memory as a precious legacy. The funeral took
place on Tuesday morning from St. Bernard's Church, Father Meises officiating,
interment following in the Catholic cemetery. Deceased leaves to mourn nine
children as follows: Miss Amelia Haas, Geo. Haas, Mrs. Frank Smitke, Robert
Haas, Mrs. Alfred Kass, Jos. Haas, Mrs. Oscar Boie, Mrs. Guy Leiby and Casper
Haas.
