Stecker, Mr./Mrs. Fred (Gold - 14 SEP 1963)
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stecker of Colby celebrated their golden wedding anniversary
with an open house for friends and relatives at Sportsmen's Park Saturday
afternoon, Sept. 14, 1963.
About 120 guests joined the couple in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of
their marriage, which took place in 1913 at St. John's Evangelical Church at
Colby.
Mrs. Stecker is the former Ida Schreiber and was born Dec. 31, 1893, at Rice,
Minn. Mr. Stecker was born Nov. 28, 1897, at Colby.
The couple lived on a farm west of Colby (Clark Co., Wis.) for 48 years, and
then lived for a short time at Park Falls, where they have a son, Leo. This past
spring they moved back to Colby.
Mr. and Mrs. Stecker have five children, Sylvester of Arpin; Mrs. Kenneth (Erna)
Callahan of Minneapolis, Minn.; Leo of Park Falls; Mrs. Vernon (Jeanette) Sommer
of Curtis; and Floyd of Ashland.
There are 30 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A cafeteria supper was served to the guests, and a large wedding cake decorated
in yellow, green and gold, was featured.
Guests came from Washington, Minneapolis, Minn., Clearbrook, Minn., and Wausau,
New Richmond, Ashland, Blenker, Athens, Spencer, Unity, Dorchester, Owen,
Curtiss, Colby and Abbotsford.
