Mr. Kops has moved onto the Aug. Roder farm.
Paul Hessel of Greenwood is a visitor of the Wm. Schlinsog home.
Fred Schlinsog made a flying trip to Neillsville Wednesday.
Arthur Kurth and Arthur Lautenbach called at the Lops home Sun.
The toboggan slide was well attended Saturday and Sunday. Prizes were offered for the best performance, Hilton Kurth captured first and Charlie Marden second, with Mebbie a close third.
The ground hog in this vicinity went back as there are no signs or tracks. Manning went out in the woods that day with his gun. Perhaps the hogs saw him coming.
Walter Lautenbach exhibited a new paper cheese box Monday that made the natives interested in price and construction.
Geo. Marden took five milk tanks to Granton Monday. George says he will have to haul milk to the factory twice a day now.
Perhaps it would be well to break the news gently. Wedding bells will soon be heard. Boys save up all the old powder and dynamite, college yells, old shoes, rice etc. A large order for refreshments has been placed with Pabst, Schlitz and Neillsville wet grocers.
We notice in a recent issue of the Milwaukee Journal the young ladies anti-smoking and drinking club of Kansas want to say they haven’t any thing on our boys, as Saturday afternoon Hilton Kurth, addressing a large number of young men addicted to the weed and a anti-smoking club was organized. Several gross of good pipes was broken, pledges taken. Arthur Kurth was elected president, Chas. Marden, Secretary and treas., with Ernest Schuelke as high chief and persecuting attorney. The wise ones here predict a lower price in tobacco.
Miss Bertha Worchel and Paul Hessel captured first prize at the card party Saturday evening. The score was sixteen games, nothing but goose eggs for the opponents.
Miss Manda Schuelke returned to Milwaukee Saturday after spending a few days with her parents.
Ed Strey was entertained at the Schuelke home recently.
The Roder School will give an entertainment and basket social the 11th. The ladies are requested to bring baskets. The proceeds will go for the benefit of the school. A new organ will be bought.
Mrs. Geo. Marden who has been quite ill is able to be up again.
Richard Kurth, Uncle Sam’s rent collector reports the roll is getting smaller.
With many hand shakes, farewell and good wishes, Paul Hessel took his departure for Greenwood Tuesday. Some of the sing readers predict we will soon have him in the near future.
Wm. Schlinsog and Henry, also Henry Krause attended the school board convention at Neillsville Mon.
Paul Handt reports he will be able to supply the south half of the county with potatoes the coming season. He will plant 30 acres.
Earl Marden wants some extra pillows for the part he is to take in the Dutchman play to be given on the 11th. All are invited to come and see the home talent display their wares behind the foot lights. Mrs. C.C. Manning will give an exhibition of fantastic foot work and do the dance of the side walks of New York.
