Henry Erickson, working for Matt La Fever, southeast of this place, was struck
in the head by a falling limb one day last week and so severely injured that,
for a long time, he lost his reason.
He rushed to the river with his ax, cut a hole in the ice and jumped in. The
water was not deep enough to take in his whole body but was cold enough to bring
him to his senses.
He then got out of the water and made his way to the house. Dr. Freeman of Unity
was called to dress the man’s wounds, and we learn that he is getting along now
very nicely.
