Schmirler, Andrew B. "Andy" (19 FEB 1933 - 24 DEC 2012)
Andrew B. "Andy", Schmirler, age 79, of Brown Deer, was born to Eternal Life on
Monday, December 24, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon, surrounded by his
family.
Andy was born February 19, 1933, to Anton and Josephine (Calmes) Schmirler, in
Ladysmith, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Nancy E. Totsky in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin on June 24, 1961.
Andy, Mathematics Professor Emeritus, taught at Milwaukee School of Engineering
(M.S.O.E.) for 43 years. He loved traveling and spending time with his beloved
wife and family, especially coaching his children's and grandchildren's sports
teams. Andy will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for being a devoted
husband, father, and grandfather.
Andy was an active member of Knights of Columbus and a pro-life advocate
volunteering for Wisconsin Right to Life. Andy is survived by his wife Nancy
(Totsky); children Michael (Ann) Schmirler of Hartford; Steven (Cindy Feldmeier)
Schmirler of Minnetonka, MN; Thomas (Bobette) Schmirler of Milwaukee; Ronald
Schmirler (Nicole Rogers-Schmirler) of Waukesha; Paul (Amy) Schmirler of
Glendale; Gregory Schmirler of Sussex; Mary (Soren) Scherzberg of Mequon;
Theresa (Kevin) Haupt of Whitefish Bay; and Anton Schmirler of Shorewood;
grandchildren Matthew, Benjamin, Joseph, Andrew, Nicholas, Alyssa, Sarah,
Michaela Schmirler, Jacob, Phaedra Rogers-Schmirler, Cailin, Leah, Joshua,
Mackenzie Schmirler, Ava, Adam, Alexander Scherzberg; step - grandchildren
Meghan, William Feldmeier, Zachary, Noah, Hannah Wishart and his sibling Ann
(Gilbert) Wiedenhoeft of Evansville; and sister-in-law Betty (Glenn) Lemke of
Wauwatosa.
Andy is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Andy is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughters Kristen Schmirler and
Angelica Scherzberg, a sibling Dorothy Schmirler, brother-in-law Donald Totsky,
sisters-in-law Margaret (Stein) Totsky and Evelyn Totsky.
Services were held in Milwaukee. In lieu of flowers, Masses to the Church in
Andy's honor would be appreciated.
