Adams, Mr./Mrs. Ardin L. (60th - 29 SEP 1963)
All of the family of Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Adams of Abbotsford joined in a dinner
Sunday at the Adams home to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary.
The now frail bride of 60 years ago was attired in a vibrant blue dress accented
with a corsage of red and white carnations, grown by her granddaughter, Mrs.
George Peterson.
A floral centerpiece of purple, yellow and white chrysanthemums centered the
table for the dinner and a beautifully decorated cake was placed on the table,
at which coffee was served for afternoon guests.
Those present at the dinner included Claude Adams of Wauwatosa, Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Peterson and Carla of Abbotsford, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Peterson and eight
children of Rockford, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson and son, Jimmy, and
Mrs. Robert Plasch of Minneapolis, and Ray Foster of Hancock.
The occasion was recorded by taking pictures of the honored couple and their
descendants.
During the course of the afternoon, a musical interlude was provided by an
ensemble consisted of Mr. Adams with his violin, Miss Carla Peterson at the
organ, and Arthur and George Peterson, vocalists.
Mr. Adams spends hours each day playing his violin and also the mandolin.
Reading is another of his pleasures and past times.
Mr. and Mrs. Adams have been residents of Abbotsford since 1918, having lived at
their present home on the corner of Cedar and North Fourth St. since 1921.
Mrs. Adams, the former Cora Hubbard, was born at Hancock May 28, 1879. She was
employed there for two years as a telephone operator prior to her marriage to
Ardin Adams Sept. 29, 1903.
Mr. Adams, who was born at Poysippi, Dec. 2, 1879, came to Hancock when he was a
small boy. He was a telegrapher for the railroad company, and the Adams lived in
various places until 1918, when they came to Abbotsford.
In 1919 Mr. Adams opened a chiropractic office in his home.
Mr. and Mrs. Adams have two children: Claude of Wauwatosa, and Mrs. Roy (Edna)
Peterson of Abbotsford. They have four grandchildren adn nine
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Adams has three sisters: Mrs. Bertha Coggins, Mrs. Lana Abbott and Mrs. Ada
Meinhofer, all of Hancock.
Mr. Adams has one sister, Mrs. Anna Miller of San Antonio, Texas.
The honored couple was showered with flowers, cards, gifts, and congratulations
on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary.
