Shramek, Robert L. (10 June 1932 - 5 January 2013) With Flag
Robert L. Shramek, 80, of Merrillan passed away Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at
Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville. He was born June 10, 1932, in the Town of
Levis, Clark County, to Edward C. and Louise (Phillips) Shramek. Robert was
raised in the Humbird and Neillsville area. He joined the United States Navy.
He was united in marriage to Vonnie Irish, and she preceded him in death. Robert
was later united in marriage to Ilona Dugger, in Byron, IL, May 7, 1966. Robert
farmed in the Humbird and Neillsville area before moving to Illinois, where he
managed several farms. Upon returning to Wisconsin, he drove truck for Farmer’s
Co-op, now Federation Co-op, for several years, before retiring due to health
reasons. After retiring, he helped some local farmers on their farms. Robert’s
family would say, “You can take the boy off the farm, but you can’t take the
farm out of the boy.”
He enjoyed driving around the countryside, looking at area farms and spending
time with his family and friends.
Robert is survived by his wife, Ilona; daughters, Vickie (Randy) Blazek of Alma
Center, April (huck) Arnold of Merrillan and Bonnie Shramek of Exeland; sons,
Mike (Grace) Price of Woodbridge, VA, Randy Shramek of Merrillan and Robert E.
Shramek of Exeland; four grandchildren, Amanda, Jennifer, Donovan and Bryce; two
great-grandchildren, Hunter and Haddie; sister, Charmaine (Skip) of Venice, FL;
brothers, Jim (Helen) of Bel-Air, MD, and Frank (Joan) of Seal Beach, CA; and
other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carla McCoy; parents, Edward and Louise;
sisters, Muriel and Joyce; brothers, Ken and Ed; first wife, Vonnie;
brother-in-law, Everett Melby; and very dear friends, Dick (Margie) Powell.
A visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at
Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hixton, WI. Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home of Hixton
is assisting the family with arrangements.
