JESSIE SWETLAND/GEORGE R. WHITEHOUSE MARRIAGE
The marriage of Miss Jessie Swetland to Mr. George R. Whitehouse of
Bessemer, Mich., was solemnized Wednesday evening at eight o'clock
at the Baptist Church (Greenwood, Clark County), Rev. Paul Hull of
Stanley officiating, assisted by Pastor C. R. Scafe. Nearly a
hundred invited friends witnessed the ceremony. The bride was
dressed in white and was attended by Misses Naomi Carpenter and
Alice Miller, who were also dressed in white. The groom was
attended by Messrs. C. H. Brick and F. W. Anderson. The rostrum was
tastily decorated with potted plants and flowers. At the close of
the ceremony a flashlight picture of the group was taken by R.I.
Bowerman.
From the church about twenty-five invited friends and relatives
repaired to the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Wm. Wesenberg,
where a reception was held until ten o'clock. A bounteous wedding
supper was served and enjoyed by all present. A crowd of music
makers on the outside with the usual professional instruments
helped to add variety to the occasion. The happy couple was the
recipient of a generous list of presents that will prove useful as
well as beautiful.
The bride is the daughter of G. W. Swetland and is well known in
Greenwood. The groom is proprietor of the Bessemer House at
Bessemer, Mich., and is well spoken of in his home town. He is a
brother of Mrs. Dr. Freeman of Colby. After a short visit with his
sister at Colby, Mr. and Mrs. Whitehouse will return to their
future home in Bessemer, carrying with them the best wishes of
their many friends and relatives in Clark County.
