D. R. FREEMAN, physician and surgeon, Colby,
was born in St. Lawrence Co., N. Y., March 31, 1840, and on
determining to enter the practice of medicine, began studying with
Isaac Drake, but when the war broke out, he enlisted in the 6th
N.Y. V. served till 1864 was wounded in different battles, and saw
service in hospital practice. On coming home, took up his
profession and attended lectures at Vermont State University, at
Burlington graduated in 1873, and practiced in St. Lawrence Co., N.
Y. till 1877, and then came to Colby and opened a drug store to
Henry Seigrist now is intending to build again. He married Miss
Lenoa Whitehouse of Colby in 1880. There are two children by a
former marriage, Charles and Henry. Dr. Freeman is Examining
Physician for pensions is now Justice, and belongs to the Masons,
also to the Good Templars.
