On a wedding trip to Florida are newlyweds of August 16, 1975, Mr. and Mrs.
Ronald Chester Rogalski.
The former Miss Mary Beth Hermsen, 217 N. Washington Street, Thorp, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Hermsen, 307 W. Main Street, Thorp, was given in marriage
by her father to the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Rogalski, Route 1, Thorp,
during a 2 p.m. nuptial service in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thorp, the
Rev. John Puerner officiating.
Singing were Miss Sandi Rogalski and Mrs. Ronald Lee, and playing organ was Mrs.
Jerry Ashbeck.
White organza was used to fashion the bridal gown, which was highlighted by a
chapel train, and with it the bride wore a long veil of sheer illusion flowing
from a Camelot headpiece. In the bouquet she held were pink sweetheart roses,
carnations and baby’s breath with ivy.
Miss Joyce Pajak, Eau Claire, the maid of honor, and Miss Donna Bielecki, Eau
Claire, and Mrs. John Kodl and Miss Renee Hermsen, both of Thorp, bridesmaids,
preceded her down the church aisle.
They donned empire jacket frocks and white floppy hats, and carried arrangements
of yellow daisies with baby’s breath.
Larry Stigen, Thorp, served as best man. Groomsmen were Jim Pajak, John Kodl and
Dan Ciokiewicz, all of Thorp, and ushering were Mark Hermsen and Roy Lobacz.
Mrs. Rogalski, a 1973 graduate of Thorp High School, has been employed by ITT
Life Insurance Corporation. Her husband, who graduated in 1969 from the same
high school, is a 1972 graduate of District I Technical Institute, Eau Claire.
He works for the Foremost-Blue Moon Company.
Thorp will be the home of the newlyweds.

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Zielanis of Thorp, Wisconsin announce the marriage of their
daughter, Arlene Marie, to Dr. Robert W. Fulton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn
Fulton of Newkirk, Oklahoma.
The wedding took place on September 6, 1975 at the A. P. Green Chapel on the
University of Missouri Campus, Columbia, Missouri.
The bride was attended by her sister, Joanne Zielanis of Seattle, Washington,
and Dr. Fulton’s best man was his brother, Mr. Bill Fulton of Lincoln, Nebraska.
Ushers were Dr. Gerald Kirk of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Dr. Michael Lancaster
of Columbia, Missouri.
A reception was held after the ceremony at the Memorial student Union.
Reception hostesses were Miss Betty Swanston, Miss Suzanne Meppl and Mrs. Nancy
Lepen, all of Columbia, Missouri, also Mrs. Jana Fulton from Lincoln, Nebraska.
Mrs. Fulton was the Child Development Specialist at Mid Missouri Mental Health
Center, and Dr. Fulton was Research Associate in the College of Veterinary
Medicine at the University of Missouri in Columbia.
Mrs. Fulton received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Stout State
University, Menomonie, Wisconsin.
Dr. Fulton received the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State
University, Master of Science degree from Washington State University, and
Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Missouri, Columbia.
After October 1st, Dr. and Mrs. Fulton will make their home in Pullman,
Washington, where Dr. Fulton will be an assistant Professor in the Dept. of
Veterinary Clinical Medicine at Washington State University.

Thor’s Senior High Marching band placed in the top 3 bands Sunday in the Medford
Mink Festival Parade.
The 14 high school bands that competed for the three trophies were Stanley-Boyd,
Colby, Greenwood, Abbotsford, Phillips, Granton, Wausau Newman, Ladysmith,
Mosinee, Tomahawk, Rib Lake, Park Falls, Prentice and Thorp. Medford’s two bands
did not compete, as they hosted the parade. This was perhaps one of the most
competitive parades that Thorp has marched in.
- First place trophy went to Park Falls.
- Second place trophy went to Tomahawk.
- Third place trophy went to Thorp.

Barbara Ann Stanula and John Jeffrey Zuiker exchanged wedding vows Saturday,
August 23, 1975 at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Thorp, Wisconsin. Rev. Francis
Brockman performed the 1:30 p.m. ceremony.
Parents of the couple are Mrs. Gertrude Stanula, Thorp, and Mr. and Mrs. John
Zuiker, Minocqua, Wisconsin.
The bride chose Kathy Hoffmann as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Linda Stanula,
Josie Stanula and Kathy Butler. Flower girl was Cindy Krzyzanowski.
The groom’s brother, Bill Zuiker, served as best man, and groomsmen were Pat
Ziarnik, Greg Ziarnik and Fred Hoffmann. Ring bearers was Scott Ziarnik..
Assisting Father Brockman were Billy and Allan Krzyzanowski, cousins of the
bride.
The bride wore a long sleeved white knit wedding dress with a long flowing
train. The headpiece was Juliet styled and it had the same beaded design as the
bodice of the dress. She carried a colonial style bouquet consisting of white
roses and trailing ivy.
The bridesmaids wore light blue A-line long dresses. They also carried colonial
bouquets of white roses.
After the ceremony, a dinner and wedding dance were held at the Thorp Legion
Hall. Hostesses were Jean Zuiker, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Hank Lutz of
Thorp.
The couple is now residing in Wisconsin Rapids. Barb is teaching school this
fall at SS Peter & Paul School in Wisconsin Rapids. Jeff is an accountant at
Consolidated Paper, also in Wisconsin Rapids.

Airman Brent A. Cole, son of Mr. and Mrs. Terrance E. Cole of Route 2, Withee,
Wisconsin, has been selected for technical training in the U.S. Air Force
aircraft maintenance field at Sheppard AFB, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman recently completed basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas, where he
studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs, and received special
instruction in the human relations.
Airman Cole is a 1975 graduate of Owen-Withee Junior/Senior High School, Owen,
Wisconsin.

Zak, Elizabeth Helen “Betty” (8 October 1934 – 23 November 2023)
In Loving Memory of Elizabeth Helen “Betty” Zak
Betty Zak, born to John and Helen Mueller on October 6, 1934, in Dorchester,
peacefully departed this world on November 23, 2023. She was united in marriage
with Victor Zak on August 15, 1953, at the Peace United Church of Christ in
Dorchester. Their love story began at an Easter Dance in Stetsonville, and
together they embarked on a life journey, farming in rural Dorchester, and
nurturing a growing family. Betty and Victor celebrated their union with a
honeymoon adventure through the western states and Yellowstone National Park.
Family was the cornerstone of Betty’s life. A devoted wife and mother, she
lovingly raised her four children: Vicky, Gregory, Karla, and Bonnie. Her
children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought immeasurable joy, and
she cherished every moment spent with them. Betty’s warm and welcoming nature
made family gatherings the heart of her existence.
Betty’s love for travel was as boundless as her spirit. From camping adventures
with family and friends to exploring Europe, Mexico, Hawaii, and various corners
of the United States, she embraced the beauty of the world.
A 1952 graduate of Dorchester High School, Betty continues her journey in 1953,
attending Cosmetology school in Eau Claire. Becoming a talented beautician, her
career blossomed across Wausau, Athens, Medford, Colby, and Dorchester before
finding its home in Abbotsford, where she established Fireside Beauty Salon in
her home. Her dedication to her craft endured until her retirement at the age of
80.
Betty’s zest for life extended beyond her professional pursuits. She reveled in
playing cards, enjoyed bowling with friends, baking and was a founding member of
the Green Acres Homemakers Club in 1973. Her infectious positivity and cheerful
demeanor were a testament to her active involvement in the Peace United Church
of Christ in Dorchester, where she served and volunteered.
Betty and her husband, Victor, shared a passion for snowmobiling, and together
they were active members of the Midnight Riders Snowmobile Club for many years.
An avid painter, Betty found solace and expression in both oil and watercolors.
Her artistic spirit was reflected in the vibrant strokes that mirrored her
vibrant personality. Whether tending to the farm in rural Dorchester until 1979
or riding bicycles around Abbotsford with her grandchildren, Betty embraced each
chapter of life with enthusiasm.
Betty Zak’s legacy is one of love, joy, and an unwavering commitment to family
and community. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, bubbly nature, and
the positive impact she made on the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
Betty is survived by her husband: Victor as well as her children: Vicky
Kollmansberger, Gregory Zak, Karla (Joe) Feldbruegge and Bonnie (Lenny)
Zawislan, 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a half-brother: Christ Mueller.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at First United Church of Christ in
Colby on Saturday, December 2, 2023. Reverend Teri Hanson will officiate.
Interment will follow at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are
welcome from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at the church.
