----"Biographical History of Clark & Jackson counties, WI," Lewis Pub. co., 1891, pg. 197:

PETER J. KLEIN, of section 13, Eaton Township, Clark County, was born in Nierstein, on the Rhine, Province of Hessen-Darmstadt, May 4, 1857, the son of George Klein (deceased), a native of the same country. The latter brought his family to the United States in 1870, settling in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, and subsequently removed to Clark County, in the fall of 1873, and settled in Loyal Township. Our subject came at once to Eaton, where he commenced work as a farm hand. In October, 1885, he settled on this present farm of 120 acres, fifteen of which is cleared. During the winters he is engaged in the pineries, and in the summers works on his farm and at other occupations.
Mr. Klein was married August 20, 1882, to Elizabeth Condon, who was born near Peterboro, Upper Canada, the daughter of Joseph Condon, a native of County Cork, Ireland. They had four children, three of whom survive: John P., born May 28, 1883 Gertrude, May 24, 1887, and Oswald, December 22, 1889. Joseph L. died at the age of nine months. Both Mr. and Mrs. Klein are members of the Catholic Church.

Add Notes From Family Researchers

I have an obit on Pete Klein from Michigan, where he died in 1929, and his wife in 1936. I also have an article on Peter from Clark Co. history published in 1891 & a couple articles from the Greenwood paper in 1899 about his moving to Michigan. His brother, my Gr. Gr. grandfather, Jacob Klein died in Tn. Beaver. We have everything on him. We have little on his brother, Valentin. He spent most of his life travelling around. Only the last few years he lived in Clark Co. He is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery in Tn. Loyal. That's all we have on him. He died on Christmas, 1904. That's one obit I was scouting for, with no luck so far. Jacob's sister, Justina Klein Schoch, died in 1891 in Tn. Loyal. She is buried in the Lutheran Cemetery. The Church records were destroyed. No County death record, just her grave stone. I have all the info on her descendents. The others are Jacob Klein's in-laws, the Brussows. Wilhelm died July 24, 1902, Tn. Loyal, as did his sister, Wilhelmina Brussow Schmidt, Oct. 5, 1901. Mother Brussow was last seen in a picture my father has that was taken at Jacob' Klein's place in the Township of Beaver around 1893. She did not show up on the 1900 census. John Klein
