ALBERT J. BEILFUSS, yard master in Nye, Leisk
Hudson's extensive lumber yards at Thorp, Clark County, was born in
Prussia, Germany, August 16, 1858, the son of Charles and Johannah
(Schmidt) Beilfuss, both also natives of Prussia. They were the
parents of ten children, six of whom are now living, namely:
William, Charles, Minnie, August, Albert and Bertha. Caroline and
Ollerike died after reaching maturity. The father brought his
family to the United States in 1871, settling in Reed City, Osceola
County, Michigan, where he still resides. Our subject lived in that
city until the spring of 1881, when he came to Abbotsford, this
county, and kept a grocery two years. In 1883 he came to Thorp,
where he has since worked for his present employers, having had
four years in the lumber yards in Michigan.
Mr. Beilfuss was married October 19, 1878, to Adelgunde Stoever, a
daughter of Henry Stoever, of Kiel, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin.
The have three children, -Arthur, Walter, and Carl, all of whom are
at home and attending school. Mr. Beilfuss was brought up in the
Lutheran faith, and is a Democrat politically.
