Staab, Leonard (1881)
Leonhard Staab came to the United States in 1881 with his wife and
parents, the Johann Staab's from Rottenburg, Germany. Johann worked
for Van Dusen Mill. Leonhard lived in Dorchester prior to moving to
a homestead 2 miles west of the village. Four children immigrated
with them: Mary, Clara, Theresa and Mike. Two sons were born later,
John and Valentine. The information that John, who was born in
1881, was one of the first white children born in Dorchester has
been passed down for three generations. John's children are: Mary,
Edward, Leonhard and Bernard now of this village.
