Johnson, Mary E. (Marriage - 14 FEB 1900)
W. S. Tufts, Sheriff of Clark County, and Miss Mary E. Johnson of Michigan City, Ind., were quietly married at the Sheriff's residence, Wednesday afternoon, Rev. A. B. Scoville
performing the ceremony. The lady has been for some time at the head of Mr.
Tuft's household affairs and has formed a large circle of acquaintances in
this city. We most heartily congratulate the sheriff on his capture. If
ladies were in politics it might not seem the right thing to go out of state
in such cases however Mr. Tufts judgment is to be relied on, besides having
a very good precedent to follow, in a recent appointment of an official in
this state from the same city from which the bride comes. We offer our
wishes of joy and prosperity to Mr. and Mrs. Tufts.
