The Family of August J. & Alice A. Meyer
In 1905, the merchant, August J. Meyer was forty-one years old. He was born in New York to German immigrants. His forty-three year old wife, Alice A. was a skilled dressmaker and employed full time in that occupation. August and Alice were the parents of seventeen year old Donald C., who had been born when they were living in Dakota, and eleven year old Gretchin who, like her mother and maternal grandparents, was born in Wisconsin. Donald worked part time as a railroad office clerk.
