In 1905, Mike and Sarah A. (Vanderhoof) DeGraw were working a farm they had already bought and paid for in Sherman Township, Clark Co., WI. He was fifty and she was forty-seven. Mike was born in New Jersey of Irish immigrant parents. Sarah and her parents were also natives of New Jersey. When the 1905 Census was taken, there were two sons living with them: Harry who was twenty-three and Orla A. who was nineteen. Both of the sons were farm laborers and both were born in Wisconsin.
