Our Family's "Poppe Book" says Albert Poppe was a Democrat and a Lutheran. His children all attended the "Poppe School" which he helped build.
This is what the book says about his death; Albert died on Monday the 29th of
August, 1932 in Greenwood Township, Taylor County, at the age of 29 years, 8
months and 16 days old. Roy, his son, became worried when his father hadn't
returned from hunting and it was getting late in the day. It is believed that
Albert, while hunting in the woods, tripped over a wire fence and his gun went
off killing him. He was buried the 1st of Sept., 1932 in Riverside Cemetery,
Withee, Wisconsin.
Now, something interesting but may not be fact; hand written in the book by a
cousin of mine it says " Also evidence of suicide. Carried a gun to many years
to have an accident like that. Also gave brother Charlie important papers
several days before is death".
Albert married Edna Belle Timblin the 26th of Dec., 1902 in Butler Township,
Clark County, Wisconsin Edna was the daughter of William and Mary Jane (Smith)
Thimblin from Thorp, Wisconsin She was born in Daquscahonda, Elk County,
Pennsylvania the 20th of Mar 1880.
Edna remarried after Albert's death. She and Albert Barlow were
married at Albert's home in Jim Falls, Chippewa County, Wisconsin, the 16th of
June 1937. Albert Henry Barlow was born 14 Jan 1879, in Chippewa County,
Wisconsin the son of Henry and Sarah (White) Barlow. He died in Cadott,
Chippewa County, Wisconsin, the 26th of May 1957 and is buried in Brooklawn
Cemetery, Cadott, Chippewa County, Wisconsin. Edna died in Cadott the 8th
of July 1960. She is buried next to Albert Henry Barlow.
