Surnames:
John W. Pietenpohl
operated one of the largest sugar bushes in Clark County during the
1930s, tapping up to 1,400 maple trees. Located just off of
County Trunk K, two miles northwest of Granton, Pietenpohl lived in
the cooking shack for a month during the maple sap melting-down
process, tending the fires, sap pans and canning of the syrup.
