Charles and Emilie (Lehmann) Beyreis
Charles Beyreis (aka Ernst Fredrich Wilhelm Beyreis) was born 22 Dec 1844 in Udersleben, Germany. His Father was Johann Christian Beyreis and his Mother was Augusta Henrietta Sophie Hühn. He died 04 Feb 1927 in Dorchester, Clark Co., WI and is buried in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
On 26 Oct 1869 in Udersleben he was married to Johanne Auguste Lehmann (aka Emilie Lehmann) who was born 22 Jul 1848 in Udersleben. Her father was Jonas Ferdinand Lehmen and her mother was Augusta Marie Sophie Müller.
Charles fought for the Union Army in the Civil War with Company B, 46th NY Infantry. When he enlisted it was in the 48th New York Infantry. He enlisted on 16 Sep 1861 and was discharged on 16 Sep 1864 which completed his term of enlistment. When he enlisted he was 19 years old; 5' 2" tall, had a light complexion, blue eyes brown hair and by occupation was a barber. He was wounded at Antietam and lost the tip of his right index finger. According to his discharge certificate (I have the original) he was discharged as a private in Captain Charles W. Prices Company F 17th Regiment Veteran Reserve Corps.
Emilie died 12 Feb 1912 in Marshfield, Wood Co., WI and is also buried in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.
