Carl, or Charles as he was called in America, lived next door to Albert and Yeette Welsh and their 3 sons: Benton, Albion and Fred; and daughter, Jennie. The family of Henry and Elizabeth Silta were also neighbors. The Silta's had four daughters: Clara, Ellen, Flora and Annie; and one son, Charlie.
Charles Thiel was born in Prussia in 1827 and served in Co. B, of the 52nd Wisconsin Infantry as a Private from March 23, 1865 to July 28, 1865. Both Charles and his wife are buried in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Loyal twp., Clark Co., WI.
