The Biography of Joesph Habersetzer
Contributed by Cathy (Habersetzer)
Cgraggen Joseph Habersetzer
was born in Wisconsin about 1851. His parents,
Nicholas and Barbara Habersetzer, along with a sister Mary or
Maria and brother Leonard ( my great grandfather) left the port of Bremen
Germany and arrived in New York Sept 18, 1850. Joseph is not listed on the
ship list. He is listed in the 1870 census of Wisconsin* as living at home
at age 19. Joseph spent his
childhood in the town of Meeme, Wisconsin. His brother Leonard's last home
in Wisconsin was Colby, and he then came to Washington state in the
1880's. Joseph died July 25,
1890, at the age of thirty-nine and was buried in the Clark County,
Wisconsin
Poor Farm Cemetery which is located in York Township.
Notes
*The 1870 Census says he was born in Bavaria and
we believe that is in error. He would have been born shortly after their
arrival in 1851. If he were 19 in 1870 then he was indeed 39 at the time of
his death in 1890. © Every submission is protected by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act
