1. Ludwig Wilhelm4 Blume (Joseph3

Blome) was born March 25, 1880 in Marathon City, Marathon Co., WI, and died
April 18, 1957 in Town of Holway, Taylor Co., WI (Source: Cemetery headstone.).
He married Anna Marie Heil May 18, 1908 in Marathon Co., WI, daughter of
Johannes Heil and Anna Schmidt. She was born January 21, 1892 in Marathon City,
Marathon Co., WI, and died December 03, 1976 in Medford, Taylor Co., WI (Source:
Cemetery headstone.). Notes
for Ludwig Wilhelm Blume:
Ludwig and Anna lived in the Marathon City, WI area when they were first
married. In the mid 1920's Ludwig owned and operated a blacksmith shop in
Fremont, WI. When Anna received a small inheritance, they bought an 80 acre
farm in the Town of Holway, Taylor County, ten miles north of Owen, WI where
the family grew up. Ludwig did not care for farming, so most of that task was
done by Anna and children.
Ludwig was a mason and carpenter, and built the house and barn on the farm.
During the winter, Ludwig worked in the woods to make money for taxes and if he
took the team of horses, he got a little better pay. He would get home for a
visit about 3 times a winter, one being Christmas.
Ludwig played accordion and enjoyed entertaining his friends; most of his
children were also musically talented.
According to son Arthur, Ludwig understood some English, but spoke only German.
Ludwig and Anna had six sons serving in the military. They were Julius, Henry,
Leander, Alfred, David and Leo. More
