Karl Fredrick Ludwig & Elda (Helm) Bartz
Clark County, Wisconsin
Karl Fredrick Ludwig was born April 21, 1889 to Wilhelm and Anna (Fischer) Bartz in Brillion, Wisconsin. He attended the public schools there and in 1902 moved to Fremont Township, Clark Co., Wisconsin with his parents. In 1914, he moved to the Town of York. There he purchased a farm, and in 1915, married Miss Elda Augusta Helm of Lynn Township. She was the daughter of Ferdinand and Laura (Sternitzky) Helm.
Fred and Elda were the parents of two daughters, Irene who married Don Drescher and resided in Greenwood; and Neva, who married Elwyn Larsen of Janesville, Wisconsin.
Fred and Elda's farm in Lynn remained in the family for nearly fifty-one years, until 1962, when Elda sold it to Ed Dau from New Lennox, Illinois. Mr. Bartz was treasurer of the Conservation Club for six years and secretary-treasurer of the York Dairy for twelve years at a time when it was known as "a farmer's factory". He was also treasurer of York Township for twenty-six years.
