Paschel was born 24 August 1840 in Jefferson Co., NH.  He moved to WI as a child, settling in Grant Co.  He enlisted with Co. "K" in the 47th Wis. Inf., 23 Jan 1865 serving as a Pvt. and was discharged 11 Sept 1865.  12 Mar 1867 he was married to Orzina Dean (b. 25 Oct 1842, NH), the daughter of Elhanan Winchester and Louise Dean.  Louise’s 1st husband, Joshua Davis and her father were both members of Co. C, 2nd Wis. and neither lived to return to civilian life.  Her father fell first in MO in 1863 and Joshua died in TN in 1865.  In 1885, the Wallis family moved to Clark Co., WI where for many years, Paschel drove the stage from Neillsville to Withee.  Upon retirement, they moved into Greenwood where Orzina had a carpet weaving business.  Their oldest son, Dean lived right next door.

The Wallis children were: Dean Wilton (b. 14 Jul 1874, Bloomington, WI, m. Alice Langley, d. 2 Jul 1947 in Clayton, WI), Idella Grace (b. Feb 1878, m. Walter Millard), Blanche M. (b. Jun 1884, m. Barton Marvin) and Vern A. (adopted Jun 1890).  When Orzina was gravely ill, her sister, Mrs. Horace Atwood of Bridgeport, WI, visited her.  After Orzina died 12 Jul 1906, Paschel married Mrs. Laura Redfield 17 Sep 1907.  A big attraction was scheduled during the county fair, Friday, at 2 pm, for 72 year old Paschel to announce his intention of being married at the fairgrounds to Mrs. Redfield who was 78 years young.  A $35 bedroom suite was given to the newlyweds as a wedding gift. Laura died 8 Feb 1914 and Paschel died on 17 January 1922 and was laid to rest with military honors in the Greenwood, WI City Cemetery, next to Orzina.
