"Nick" Grimes was born in Wisconsin during 1872, the son of Elias & Jane L. (Warren) Grimes. He married Ruth Tuttle, the daughter of William S. and Hannah (Brown) Tuttle.

Both Nick and Ruth are buried in the Riverside Cemetery, Withee, Hixon Twp., Clark Co., WI.
