Wilson McConnell was born November 25, 1844 in the Hoosier state.  He was the son of Eady and Joseph McConnell who were farming in Indiana when the 1850 Federal Census was recorded.  October 26, 1864, at the age of nineteen, Wilson enlisted as a Private in the Great Civil War of the United States of America.  He was assigned to Company G of the 33rd Indiana Infantry.  He was honorably discharged July 8, 1865.   Out Company G, 33rd Infantry Regiment Indiana on 8 Jul 1865.

 

Fifteen years following the war, he and Charlotte were married.  She had been born in Wisconsin in 1856 to English born parents.  At the time of her marriage she was twelve years younger than Wilson.  He always called her "Lottie". 

 

When Wilson died in the heat of of the Wisconsin summer, July 18, 1922, he was laid to rest in the Sherwood Township Cemetery and seventeen years later, his beloved "Lottie" was buried beside him.
