(Johnson) Nichols Eaton Township, Clark
Co., Wisconsin July 24, 1869, a Charles H. Nichols purchased two 40
acre parcels of land in Township 26 (now Eaton) in the Southwest 1/4 of the
South East 1/4 and the South East 1/4 of the South East 1/4 of Range 2. We
do not yet know if this was the same Charles H. Nichols, but suspect it may have
been. In September of 1881, he
moved his family from
Holland, Sheboygan Co., Wis., to a
farm a mile and a half west of Loyal, Wisconsin. Both Charles (b. 1844, d. 1893) and Jane (b. 1840, d.
1903) are buried in the
Loyal, Wisconsin City Cemetery, along with their son, Charles "Henry" and
his wife Eliza F. (Hutchens). Siblings

Sheboygan, WI), Celia/Catherine (Nichols) Rockwell of Darien and Mrs. Lydia A.

Charles H. Nichols was born September 27, 1844 to James F.
and his wife Lydia in Pennsylvania. He fought with the Union Army (Co. E,
50th WI Inf. or the 49th WI Inf.) during the Civil War, having enlisted February
3, 1863 and was mustered out July 20, 1865.
