re-enlisted in the U.S. Air Force at Zaragoza, Spain, after nine years of
service. Staff Sgt. Aderhold is an administration technician with the 31st
Weather Squadron. His wife, Ingrid, is the daughter of Leroy and Wattrud York,
Rt. 2 Neillsville.

Deric Breheim, son of Hazel Breheim, 105 N. East St., Merrillan, has
participated in Team Spirit-84, a joint U.S. and Republic of Korea military
training exercise. U.S. Army Sgt. Breheim is an intelligence analyst with the
25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. He is a 1980 graduate of
Lincoln High School, Alma Center.

Fennessy, Jim III (Service Notes- 1984)
Jim Fennessy III, son of Jim and Joan Fennessy, Rt. 1 Neillsville, has been
deployed with West-Pac 83-84. Interior communications electrician second class
Fennessy is a crew member aboard the nuclear submarine USS New York City. Ports
of call will include the Philippines, Diego Garcia and Australia. He is a 1980
graduate of Neillsville High School and is stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Gall, Melvin (Service Notes - 1984)
Melvin Gall, son of Carol Matheson Gall Ayres and the late Arche Gall, recently
became the commander of Squadron 72 of the Civil Air Patrol of Stockton,
California. Lt. Gall, a Neillsville native retired from the U.S. Army in 1975
and is an ex-paratrooper with four Special Forces combat tours in Vietnam. He
began his flying career in North Carolina in 1965 and holds a commercial pilot’s
license. He joined the Civil Air Patrol as a pilot in 1978 and has been the
operations officer and flight operations officer for the squadron, which
includes 48 members and 26 aircraft.

Laufenberg, Lance Cpl. Bernard (Service Notes - 1984)
Bernard Laufenberg, son of Bernard and Dorothy Laufenberg, Rt. 1 Alma Center,
recently participated in operation Kernal Usher 84-1. Marine Lance Cpt.
Laufenberg is a member of First Battalion, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division,
Camp Pendleton, California. The battalion was embarked on three U.S. Navy
ships—the Belleau Woods, Dubuque and Suffolk County.

Meiers, Thomas (Service Notes- 1984)
Thomas Meier, son of Art Meier of Rt. 2 Neillsville, and Irene Meier, 408 Oak
St., Neillsville, was the honor graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps’ Aviation
Support Equipment Technicians’ Mechanical Course at Millington, Tennessee. The
course covered gasoline and diesel engines, gas turbine compressors, engine
tune-up-inspections and power train assemblies.
