Co., WI Agnes was Agnes Holenbach She's mentioned in the obit. of her father George: Holenbach, George (7 April 1865 - 6 Jan. 1934)
George Holenbach passed away at 9 o'clock Saturday evening, Jan. 6th after a few
days' illness with pneumonia at the St. Michael's Hospital at Stevens Point.
Deceased was born April 7, 1865 in Bancroft, Wis., and was 68 years and 8 months
of age when he died. He came to Lynn in 1890 and was employed at the E. F.
Brooks farm. Jun 20, 1893 he was married to Miss Elizabeth Neitzel of Lynn and
settled on the
George Ure
farm at Lynn where they lived many years. His wife died Aug. 24, 1917. He
still stayed on the farm until about eight years ago when he made his home with
the children, and in 1929 he went to live with a brother it being his old home
in Bancroft until his death.
A baby boy and a daughter Esther preceded him in death. Esther died Feb. 7,
1923. He leaves to mourn his death eight children: Violet (Mrs. Fred Schutz, of
Lynn; Agnes, Mrs. Elmer Bender of Lynn; Otto and Wallace Holenbach, Rosella,
Mrs. Fred Borger of Fond du Lac; Geraldine, rms. George Biehl of Oshkosh and
Anita, Mrs. Cornelius of Doornok, Granville, and 9 grandchildren, two sisters,
Mrs. Alice Zimmer and of Kenosha, Wis., and Miss Rose Holenbach of Kenosha; one
brother Peter of Minn. Also a host of sorrowing friends.
George was a good father and a good neighbor, cheerful and genial at all times.
The funeral will be held at Bancroft, Wis., Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon at 2
o'clock at the Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Bender home at Lynn. Funeral will be conducted
by the Catholic priest at Bakerville. Interment will be in the family lot in the
Windfall cemetery. Notes Elmer and Agnes had a son Merlin (b: 1926) Merlin is
married to Caryl Jean Darton (b: 1930). Caryl's father was Hugh Darton, and her
paternal grandparents were Arthur Ellsworth Darton & Olga Frances Rossman(n).
Olga's the sister of Paul R. Rossman (whose spouse was Helene Humke, my paternal
grandfather's 1st cousin). Both Elmer and Agnes are buried in
Windfall Cemetery
