Thais Winslow

Mrs. Earl Winslow was my Grandmother. Her daughter, Thais (Fay) Was my mother.  August had to be my Great Grandfather. His daughter, Mrs. Earl Winslow was my Grandmother. Her daughter, Thais, was my mother.

Above is the funeral card for my Grandfather, Harry Earl Winslow, who was born in Shawano County, Wisconsin February 8,1900.  He was adopted August 30,1900 by William L. & Minnie E. Winslow and was the natural born son of Wesley McClaughlin & Bertha Ellis Baldwin.  Harry married Elsie Regner.

Hunting Buddies--Hank VanStraten, Bob Pucket, Ollie Johnson,
Roy VanStraten, Charlie Wardell & Ray VanStraten.

The following letter verified the identifications of the "Hunting Buddies." [Actual letter]

Hi,
Am  able to identify all the people in your picture.
Hank VAN Straten is the father of Roy and Raymond, Hank is also a brother to my husbands Dad so Roy and Raymond are my husbands first cousins and Hank is my Husbands Uncle.  Bob Pucket did not live in Ellington. He lived in the township of Alvin That's about 30 miles north of Crandon.  These men all hunted in the town of Alvin and stayed at Bob Puckets home. Somehow they got to know him during the hunting season. They stayed at his home and paid
room and board ($1.00 a day) and Roy said his wife was a good cook.  Roy Van Straten was 18 years old and he shot the deer in the picture. Roy said that was about 1944.
My maiden name was Johnson so the Ollie Johnson in the picture is my Uncle Ollie married my Mother's sister Armella Jacobs.

Mrs. Robert Van Straten
Appleton, Wisconsin

My mother's birth place was on the north side of County Road MM.  On the north side was her Grandfather Winslow and to the south side was her father's properties.  Just south of Stephensville (Outagamie County), is her mother's father and grandmother Regner's property.

1895, the ship that Ottilia Raske (Regner) came over on with her 3 children Gustave, Albert,& Minnie. August Regner on the same ship's log. They got married July 18th 1895 in Wisconsin, town of Lincoln.

I received a marriage record from the Wisconsin Historical Society, which stated that my Grandfather's natural parents were Wesley Mclaughlin & Bertha Baldwin. They apparently gave him up for adoption in 1900, but then were married in 1902 in Ashland Co., Wisconsin. I just can't help but wonder if my Grandfather ,who I new very well ever new that. He never mentioned it if he did. The 1910 census shows Wesley to be a Widow, and in the 1920 census I lost him.
