Notes for David McKenzie:
Source Data: David was listed in the 1880 census for Loyal township, Clark Co,
WI with the age 64 years (born 1816); occupation: laborer, born in Ireland;
father and mother each born in Scotland. From the records of Merrill Dunn.
Obituary: Mr. David McKenzie, Sr. of the town of York (Clark Co, WI) died on
Sunday morning, January 19, 1896. He had passed his 80th milestone on January
3rd. Having been born on the British Isles, he came across the waters in an
early day and settled in New York and Canada where he resided many years. Later
on, he moved to Seymour, Wisconsin. Nearly a score of years later, he
established a home in Clark County, Wisconsin. Naturally strong and rugged, he
fell, at last, a victim of cancer that refused to yield to any kind of
medication. He suffered long and patiently. He was the father of two sons and
six daughters, all of whom were present except Mrs. Mary Sherman of Seymour,
Wisconsin. He was laid to rest beside his wife, Rose, at the York Center
Cemetery. He was a firm believer in the divinity and authority of God's work and
he read his Bible and trusted in God. Funeral services were held in the M.E.
Church of York Center conducted by Rev. W. T. Hendren of the Greenwood
Presbyterian Church and assisted by Rev. J. Hoffman of the Loyal M. E. Church.
Many were present to mourn his loss and extend their sympathy.
