Investigation of Rudy's death set to conclude
By Matt Ollwerther - Marshfield News-Herald
NEILLSVILLE -- Clark County authorities said Monday their investigation into the death of Christine Rudy is coming to a close.
The Clark County Sheriff's Department is conducting interviews "here and there," and is waiting for results from the crime lab, said Clark County Chief Deputy Jim Backus.
District Attorney Darwin Zwieg said more evidence, including DNA, was sent to a crime lab last week.
Zwieg said Monday he expects to file charges against Christine's husband Shaun Rudy, 23, of Thorp, but declined to say when that might occur.
While Shaun Rudy has not been charged with any crime related to his 21-year-old wife Christine's death, Clark County authorities named him the main suspect.
Christine Rudy was six months pregnant when she went missing. The couple married in August.
Backus said he doesn't anticipate more evidence being sent to the crime lab.
Zwieg said forensic evidence in the case is being given careful attention because of potential problems with several of the witnesses' use of drugs or criminal history.
Shaun Rudy is scheduled for a jury trial on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and a firearm as a felon March 15, according to online court records.
