Rudy's attorney withdraws from case
Shaun W. Rudy's public defender, William Poss, has withdrawn from representing him, citing an ethical conflict.
Poss said he made the decision Friday, when his former client was charged with two counts of first-degree homicide and mutilating a corpse.
Shaun Rudy, 23, of Thorp, fatally shot his wife Christine on Nov. 12, cut up her body and threw her remains in the Chippewa River two or three days later, according to a criminal complaint.
He is scheduled for a plea hearing Tuesday in Clark County Circuit Court on unrelated charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and a firearm as a felon. It was not immediately clear how Poss withdrawing from the case would affect that hearing.
