While Matt Olson and a companion were walking on the “Soo” track between Owen
and Withee Friday night of last week Olson was struck by freight train No. 21
and was badly injured, one arm being broken and should shattered and otherwise
bruised.
His young companion pulled him off the track twice, but as the train was passing
he fell and was struck by one of the cars, and it was a wonder that he was not
drawn beneath the wheels and ground to pieces. He was immediately brought to the
office of Dr. Flokes, where, with the assistance of Dr. Williams, who was
called, the man’s injuries were attended to and he was taken to the hospital at
Chippewa Falls on the early morning train.
