Voss, Eddie J. (20 September 1940 – 1 December 2020) With Flag
Eddie J. Voss, age 80, of Colby, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the
Marshfield Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Eddie was born on September 20, 1940, the son of Edmund and Mildred (Ecke) Voss
in the Town of Mayville. He graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1959. Eddie
served in the Army National Guard from 1959-65 and was called up to Fort Lewis
in Washington during the Cuban Missile Crisis. On May 2, 1964, he was united in
marriage to Arla Mae Ramker at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. Eddie farmed in
the Town of Holton and was truck driver. Eddie enjoyed traveling and socializing
with his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marlene (Galen) Schreiber and Karen
(Gary) ______.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 56 years, Arla Mae of Colby; three children:
Darrell (Annette) of Unity, Darren (Sara) of Dorchester and Deanna (Lyle) Burt
of Unity; five grandchildren: Erin, Mason and Gavin Voss, Aiden and Riley Burt;
one step-granddaughter, Crystal Skipper; two step-great-grandchildren: Donald
and Diana Skipper. He is further survived by his sister, Bonnie (Jon) Jensen of
Rib Lake, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lanny Voss.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby on
Saturday, December 5, 2020. Rev. Chris Schwanz will officiate. Visitation will
be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services on Saturday at the church.
Interment to follow at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors
provided by the Colby VFW Post #2227. Family and friends can watch the service
live on the funeral home’s Facebook page or after service anytime on Facebook or
the website. We encourage those in attendance to abide by the Covid-19
guidelines by sanitizing, wearing a mask (if able) and social distancing.
