Bauer, Esther R. (8 MAY 1931 – 23 NOV 2020)

Esther R. Bauer, 89, Spencer, passed away on Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at her home in Spencer, under the care of Ascension Hospice and her daughters, Deborah and Tammy. She will be laid to rest in West Spencer Cemetery in the town of Sherman. Family and friends are welcome to come and celebrate Esther’s life at the cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 10 a.m.

Esther was born on May 8, 1931, in Marshfield, the daughter of Mark and Monica (nee Endreas) Gennett. On May 14, 1949, she was united in marriage to George J. Bauer Jr. at Christ the King Catholic Church in Spencer. Together, they owned and operated a dairy farm in Unity. She enjoyed working in the garden and canning. She loved to go bowling and still has a whole trunk full of bowling shirts and trophies. She loved to get together with friends and play cards — Sheepshead, Smear, Hand and Foot and 65. She enjoyed working on the farm and taking care of her children. She loved to get visits from and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Esther is lovingly survived by her children: Barbara (John) Albee of Pinehurst, N.C., Carol Jean (Gerald) Weideman of Marshfield, Brenda Bauer of Raleigh, N.C., G. Jane Bauer Drager of Appleton, Deborah (Randol) Wong of Raleigh, N.C., Randall Bauer of Appleton, Tammy (Scott) Tyznik of Colby, and Douglas (Susan) Bauer of Unity; her 29 grandchildren; her 36 great-grandchildren; her three great-greatgrandchildren; her sister-in-law, Marianna Gennett of Marshfield; and her uncle, Robert (Mary) Endreas of Spencer. She will be greatly missed by her bowling and card-playing buddies.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bauer Jr; her first-born son, Gerald Mark Bauer; her son, David Bauer; her son-in-law, William Klun; her granddaughter, Samantha Tyznik; her great-grandson, Benjamin Stauber; her parents, Mark and Monica Gennett; her in-laws, George Sr. and Adeline Bauer; her sisters: JoAnne (Edward) Weis, Marjorie (Donald) Weis and Betty (Charles) Hansen; and her brother, Roger Gennett.

Esther’s arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.
