Embke, Nancy Lee (5 May 1937 – 6 December 2020)

Nancy Embke, age 83, of Neillsville, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, after having suffered a stroke on November 23.

Nancy Lee Embke was born on May 5, 1937 in Eau Claire, the daughter of Ross and Mary (Lund) Burlingame of Merrillan. In 1955, she married Ronald Embke and since have resided in Neillsville.

Nancy is survived by her husband, of 65 years, Ronald Embke, their three children, Terry (Saralyn) Embke of Sioux City, IA, Diane (Barry) Courts of Buenos Aires, Argentina and Sharon (Paul) Peterson of Minneapolis, MN, 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and a sister, Rosella Burlingame.

During the first years of marriage, Nancy worked beside her husband on their farm south of Neillsville. She was a dedicated mother and homemaker, and only began to work outside the home when her children were all in school. She then worked at a department store in Neillsville and later worked several years as a cook in the Memorial Hospital kitchen.

Nancy enjoyed gardening, quilting and embroidering and many of the items she made were given as gifts to family and friends.

Nancy was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ, having trusted in Him as her savior since 1970. This marked a turning point in her life and for her whole family. She was very active in her local church, Bible Baptist Church in Neillsville. She will be remembered most as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, a humble, kind and sweet disciple of Jesus Christ who enjoyed serving others, and a godly example to all who knew her. We will miss her greatly, yet we rejoice that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior whom she loved and followed faithfully. “For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21).

A Celebration of Life for Nancy is being planned for close friends and family members. Pastor Joe Matthews, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, will officiate.
