Trees For Troops (Steve Knoop/Paul Vine- 2020)
Local Tree Growers Donate ‘Trees for Troops’
Pictured are Neillsville-area tree farmers Steve Knoop of R&S Tree Farms and
Paul Vine of Vine’s Christmas Trees, with some of the trees each farm donated to
Trees for Troops. They donated a total of 55 trees, which Knoop delivered to a
Wausau drop-off site. The Trees for Troops program supplies Christmas trees to
military members and their families across the country. For servicemembers who
have to stay on base and can’t be home for Christmas, or families with a loved
one serving overseas, the trees bring a bit of holiday cheer. This year,
Wisconsin tree growers were expected to donate about 850 trees to be shipped to
80 military bases. Since the program’s inception in 2005, Trees for Troops has
delivered nearly a quarter-million trees to U.S. troops. “We are both proud to
help brighten the Christmas of those who serve our country,” said Vine.
