Last Saturday just before noon Dr. C. F. Bachmann of Neillsville met with an
accident in a runaway, in which he broke his leg in three places and was
otherwise injured. He was driving toward the depot when the bit broke in the
horse’s mouth. The horse became unmanageable and a Great Dane dog, which the Dr.
had tied to the side of the buggy, began to leap and bite the horse. At the
corner of the Omaha Hotel the horse turned and tipped the rig and all out on the
cement sidewalk, the Dr. striking against a hydrant, breaking his leg in three
place and suffering other injuries. He was taken to the Eau Claire hospital.
