The concert given by the Greenwood Band at M.W.A. Hall last Friday evening was
not as well attended as the program rendered deserved. Professor John Judge had
the boys well in hand and the program was gone through with vim and snap that
was a great credit to the boys.
Claude Carter won hearty applause with his tuba solo, after which the Calanthe
Waltzes by the band, closed the first part of the program.
After a short intermission, Miss Hildur Haglund favored the audience in her
clear, sweet voice, with “Sunbeam,” the encore of which called for another
selection. She was ably accompanied on the piano by Mr. Marion Hunt.
Carl Shoemaker rendered “Challenge” on his baritone that won heart applause, and
the “Eureka Waltzes” with variations, by Val Volk, showed that the band is
composed of a set of musicians of which Greenwood can well be proud.
After the concert the boys played for a dance for all who wished to remain and
have a good time, and without extra charge. Those who did not attend the concert
missed a treat, which they well deserved to miss.
