The latter end of the week seemed to be reserved especially for entertainment,
and among them all are none more worth of mention that that of the banquet given
at the North Side Hotel (Greenwood) last Friday evening.
The banquet was given by the Junior Class of the Loyal High School to the Senior
Class of the same school, and the merry part arrived here from that town early
in the evening and the elaborate three-course dinner, under the personal
supervision of Mrs. W. R. Howard, who has a wide reputation as chef, was served
about seven-thirty o’clock. Strains of sweet music from string instruments in
the hands of skilled artists filled the air during the service of dinner.
The dining room and reception room were as beautifully and artistically
decorated as anything we have ever seen in this city, and the hearty vote of
thanks tendered Mr. Howard and his family for their painstaking care to have
everything so nice for them, showed that their efforts were appreciated by the
Loyal students.
