Chris, Rosemary (19 November 1928 – 23 December 2020)

Rosemary Chris, 92, of Abbotsford, passed away surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen under the tender care of Hope Hospice.

Rosemary was born on November 19, 1928, the daughter of Carl and Margaret (Ohlinger) Apfelbeck in Colby. She was united in marriage to Clarence Chris on January 18, 1962. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1995.

Rosemary liked sewing and gardening. She also prayed the Rosary every day. Most importantly, Rosemary cherished her family.

Rosemary is survived by her five children: Pam (Gary) Leichtman of Dorchester, Mary (Grant) Burger of Athens, Cathy (Kenneth) Horacek of Athens, Jeff Chris and David Chris both of Abbotsford; seven grandchildren: Eric (Tammy) Leichtman, Chad Leichtman, Tony (Audrey) Horacek, Amy (Matt) Thorson, Steve Horacek, Robby (Erica) Horacek and Emily (Al) Bohman; 11 great-grandchildren: Mia, Aiyana, Abbie, Easton, Jamisyn, Olivia, Bentley, Odin, Charlotte, Alex, Henry and Gary. She is further survived by three brothers: Arnold (Evie) Apfelbeck of Medford, Ray (Marlene) Apfelbeck of Wausau and Robert (Darlene) Apfelbeck of Mosinee; five sisters: Lucille Weber of Twin Lakes, Helen (Butch) Leu of Abbotsford, Patricia (Roy) Boneske of Athens, Agnes Weber of Antioch, Ill. and Dorothy (David) Kramas of Darien; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two children: Charles and Joan; six brothers: Claude, Hubert, Andrew, Leon and two in infancy, John and Gilbert Apfelbeck; and one sister, Bernice Trombly.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held for the family on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Timothy Oudenhoven officiated. Interment took place at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.
