Fetting, Gary R. (8 November 1960 – 23 December 2020)
Gary R. Fetting, 60, of Colby, passed away at his home on Wednesday, December
23, 2020 after a courageous battle with colon cancer in the loving care of his
wife under the tender care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care of Medford.
Gary was born on November 8, 1960, the son of Barry and Geraldine Fetting in
Ladysmith. He graduated from Abbotsford High School. Gary was united in marriage
to Melanie Beisner on May 18, 1996 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Colby.
Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, bird watching and gardening. He was an avid
treasure hunter at garage sales. The remainder of his free time was spent
restoring classic mini bikes. What started as a fun project with his boys when
they were young turned into his youthful passion. Gary was a dedicated husband
and father and will be deeply missed by his many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews
and cousins, but most of all his companion of 15 years, “Oreo”.
Gary is survived by his wife, Melanie; two sons: Russell and Garrett; his
parents, Barry and Geraldine of Abbotsford; three siblings: Sandra (John) Sleep
of Eau Claire, Wendy (Robert) Olson of Owen and Barry Jr. (Donna) Fetting of
Chili. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at
St. Bernard Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Timothy Oudenhoven will
officiate. A Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until time of service
Tuesday at the church. Family and friends can watch the service live on the
funeral home’s Facebook page or after service anytime on Facebook or the
website. We encourage those in attendance to abide by the Covid-19 guidelines by
sanitizing, wearing a mask (if able) and social distancing.
A Sincere appreciation goes out to the doctors and nurses of the oncology
department at Marshfield Medical Center and the caring staff of Hope Hospice and
Palliative Care.
