It gives us great pleasure in reporting the honors bestowed upon the young men
from Greenwood who are winning honors and laurels in other fields, and now come
a report from Ripon College that that our popular young friend, Malcolm Pfunder,
has won a place on the debating team of that college in the Tristate
Intercollegiate Debating league, consisting of Coa College of Iowa, Carlton of
Minnesota and Ripon of Wisconsin. The six members of the debating team were
chosen by three Judges composed of three of the college professors, and their
decision was not handed in until after a most severe, thorough and open tryout,
and the fact that Mac won a place on the team against boys who had a great deal
more experience, is most pleasing to say the least. Mac has also been chosen as
one of the literary editors of the “College Days” and the sophomore page in the
“Crimson.”
Go Mac old boy, your friends and Gleaner of Greenwood are shouting for you, and
congratulate you upon your merited success.
