King, Hilda Rose Martha (6 April 1908 – 24 January 1997)
Hilda Rose Martha King, age 88, of 311 Court Street, passed away at the Memorial
Medical Center in Neillsville on Jan. 24, 1997 at 3:50 a.m. of natural causes.
Services were held on Monday, Jan. 27, 1997 at 11 a.m. at Calvary Lutheran
Church in Neillsville with Pastor James Gordon officiating. Burial followed in
Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation was one hour prior to the service on
Monday at the church.
Pallbearers were grandsons: Jerry, Richard, Brian, Roger and Brad King, Todd and
Kevin Zickert, and Ryan Stetzer.
Hilda was born to William and Bertha Dollase in the Neillsville area on April 6,
1908. She attended school in the area and married Elgar King on Nov. 17, 1926.
They farmed in the Town of Pine Valley and she was a homemaker and a mother.
They farmed until their house burned in 1959 and they then moved to Neillsville.
She was employed at Stewart’s Redville Dairy in Greenwood and also the Model
Laundry in Neillsville. She retired in 1968. Hilda moved to her present address
11 years ago. She was at home until recently being admitted to the Neillsville
Memorial Nursing home. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and the
Hospital Auxiliary. Hilda will be sadly missed by all.
She is survived by her sons: Harry (Esther) of Neillsville, Melvin of Withee,
Donald of Neillsville, William (Janet) of Berlin and Maynard (Shirley) of
Neillsville: her daughters: Carol (Gordon) Zickert of Neillsville and Janice
(Jerry) Armstrong of Neillsville, 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, one son, two brothers and two
sisters.
